Intuitive, Customized Transient Testing in New, All-in-one Multifunctional Test Generator from EM Test

EM Test now offers the compact NX5, a multifunctional test generator that meets international and product-specific transient and power fail requirements, including EFT/burst to 5.5 kV, surge to 5.0 kV and power fail testing.

An intuitive 7" touch screen panel is the gateway to customized sequences and testing. Defined keys indicated by LED, such as start, stop and break, allow the user to run the individual configured tests quickly and accurately. Any pre-programmed standard tests can be implemented. All test parameters are displayed on-screen and the unit can also be operated remotely using the built-in Ethernet, USB or optical interface.

The standalone NX5 includes everything needed to conduct fully compliant tests as well as CE Marking for single-phase EUTs with an output supply of 300V/16A. Using an automatically controlled external coupling/decoupling network with a rated current up to 200 A, this compact generator system test three-phase EUTs for added versatility.

The NX5's advanced safety features make it ideal for use in industrial, medical, residential, telecom, components, broadcast and renewable energy applications. The unit, which conforms to IEC/EN 61010, includes real-time power monitoring of the EUT and a secure Ethernet or galvanic insulated OptoLink connection for reliable, safe testing.

For convenience, users can choose tests from an integrated standards library; customize their own test as well as import and export documents, photos and data easily. A quick start test option is available where parameters can be changed on-line while the individual EUT is still maintained.

The NX5 features fail inputs that allow users to control an ongoing test sequence based on the state of the EUT as well as monitoring outputs (BNC) that offer easy signal verification and measurements.

This new compact generator is the first to recognize connected EUT power configurations and selects only couplings to real existing lines. Non-existing lines are disabled from the menu settings.

A quad core ARM-Cortex A9 processor provides exceptional power optimization coupled with high performance, and the included iec.control software, supported by Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, 8 and 10 is used for control and documentation.

Four-quadrant, Bi-polar Operation in New Voltage Drop Simulators from EM Test

EM Test now offers the VDS 200Q Series, a four-quadrant voltage drop simulator that can source and sink current using a programmed voltage in both positive and negative polarities. The amplifier generates dips and drops, short interruptions and voltage variations to simulate a wide range of phenomena occurring on a vehicle wiring harness.

With unlimited operation from -15 V to +60 V, this powerful DC voltage source simulates a wide number of battery supply waveforms used by manufacturers in the automotive industry as well as for international quality standards. Uses include military, avionics and automotive testing environments.

The VDS 200Q Series are fast bipolar amplifiers which operate across all four quadrants that sink as well as source current. This allows the new simulators to drive capacitive loads and absorb energy feedback from the DUT up to the nominal current.

A very low source impedance of less than 10 mΩ and a high bandwidth of 150 kHz (full signal) enables these new sources to support low voltage drop, class-leading inrush current and extremely fast recovery.

The unique QuickStart feature allows parameters to be adjusted during test to evaluate the DUT's susceptibility level. And while many manufacturer-specific waveforms, such as pulse 2b (per ISO 7637-2) and pulse 4 (per ISO 16750-2), are pre-programmed, adding an external signal generator allows the VDS 200Q to generate even more complex waveforms.

Test routines are quickly programmed using the intuitive front panel with menus and function keys. The optional iso.control software automatically configures according to the connected EM TEST generators and provides an easy to use interface for accurate control and reporting functions. The EM TEST standards library is continually updated with the most current international and automotive manufacturers' standards requirements.

CWS 500N1.3

The single box solution for rf conducted immunity Testing

EM TEST now offers the CWS 500N1.3. It is the most compact single box test equipment for testing conducted rf immunity per IEC 61000-4-6 Ed. 3 and Ed. 4 and related standards with a frequency range of 10 kHz to 400 MHz. Apart from the 1 kHz 80 % AM signal the generator also generates a 2 Hz 80 % AM signal to test medical appliances and a 1 Hz PM signal with 50 % duty cycle required to test safety equipment like fire alarms. Equipped with a 1 GHz current monitor the CWS 500N1.3 can be used up to 1 GHz by means of an external amplifier. EM TEST supplies a large range of CDNs, EM clamp and current injection clamps as well as the corresponding calibration accessories. Very successful appearance at the EM TEST at the IEEE Symposium 2013 in Denver, Colorado (USA)

EM TEST participated in the IEEE Denver EMC Symposium for Electromagnetic Compatibility. We had many of our newest products on display for customer demonstrations, and in addition to our US team we had technical experts from Europe and Asia on hand. We had many key customers visit our booth, and with the equipment and team present were able to discuss many projects including conducted immunity test solutions for : Automotive, Hybrid & Electric Vehicle, Green Energy Test Solutions (including new Harmonics & Flicker Test Solutions with Energy Regeneration systems which both consume and deliver energy back to the grid), IEC & ANSI conducted immunity, and our unique and increasingly successful MIL & Avionics Power Anomaly Test solutions.

The Symposium was also a great opportunity to introduce our new Sales Manager for North America: Dan Odum, chairman of this year's IEEE EMC symposium. Dan has nearly 30 years of experience in EMC, and he will lead EM TEST's continued growth in the North American market.

We were joined at the show by representatives from nearly all of our North American sales representatives, who continue to do an excellent job of providing strong customer support and helping to grow our North American business.

Very successful appearance at the EMV 2013 in Stuttgart

The EMV is Europe's leading exhibition for Electromagnetic Compatibility - the ideal platform for the dialogue between users in all fields of the electronic industry, the suppliers of EMC solutions and services and scientific experts of the EMC branch.

EM TEST was again present with an outstanding booth and a huge number of competent EMC experts at the EMV 2013 in Stuttgart.

On the EM TEST booth the visitors have been introduced to the latest equipment like the NetWave -  the programmable AC/DC power source. With its wide frequency bandwidth the NetWave series offers best waveform generation capabilities for different test requirements such as IEC/EN 61000-4-13/-14/-17/-28 and -29 as well as for avionics testing according to DO-160, MIL-STD-704 and Airbus. Due to its high output power with very low harmonics distortion and the high stability of output voltage and frequency even with dynamically changing loads the NetWave is very well suitable for compliant harmonics and flicker measurements as per IEC/EN 61000-3-2/-3/-11/-12 and JIS C 61000-3-2.
